Where is UUMC located?

What are your opening hours?
Our OPD is open Monday to Friday: 8:00am – 6:00pm and Saturday: 8:00am – 4:00pm. Sunday OPD is closed. However, our Emergency Unit is open 24 hours, 7 days a week including public holidays.
What departments does UUMC have?
UUMC has 10 departments: Medics (OPD), Accident & Emergency, Surgery, Maternity & ANC, Paediatrics, Laboratory, Pharmacy, Optician, Nursing, and Cashier/Billing. Each department is staffed by qualified professionals.
Is UUMC open on public holidays?
Our Emergency Unit is always open — including all public holidays. Routine OPD services may be limited on public holidays. We recommend calling ahead on +234 911 659 1783 to confirm availability.

Do I need an appointment for emergency care?
No appointment is needed for emergency care. Our Accident & Emergency unit is open 24/7 and you can walk in at any time. Our triage team will assess and prioritise your care immediately.
What documents do I need to register as a new patient?
To register as a new patient, please bring:
• Valid ID (National ID, Voter's card, Driver's licence or passport)
• Your HMO / insurance card (if applicable)
• Previous medical records (if any)
Registration is quick and straightforward at our front desk.
Can I reschedule or cancel my appointment?
Yes. Please call us on +234 911 659 1783 or send a WhatsApp message at least 24 hours before your appointment to reschedule or cancel. This allows us to offer your slot to another patient who may need it.

Medical Services

What laboratory tests are available at UUMC?
Our laboratory offers a full range of diagnostic tests including: blood count (FBC), malaria rapid test, HIV screening, blood glucose, liver function tests, kidney function tests, urinalysis, pregnancy tests, genotype, blood group and many more. Results are usually ready within hours.
Does UUMC have a pharmacy?
Yes. We have a fully stocked in-house pharmacy that dispenses all prescribed medications including antibiotics, antimalarials, analgesics, antihypertensives, IV fluids and more. Our pharmacist ensures safe and correct medication use.
Do you offer maternity and antenatal services?
Yes. Our Maternity & ANC department provides complete women's healthcare including antenatal care (ANC), safe delivery, postnatal care, family planning and gynaecological services. We encourage early registration for pregnant women.
Does UUMC perform surgical operations?
Yes. Our Surgery department performs general surgical operations including appendectomy, hernia repair, wound care, obstetric surgery and emergency surgical procedures. Our surgical team is experienced in both planned and emergency operations.
Do you provide eye care services?
Yes. Our Optician department provides comprehensive eye care services including vision testing, eye examinations, diagnosis of eye conditions and prescription of corrective lenses and eyewear. Book an appointment to see our optician.
Do you provide paediatric care for children?
Yes. Our Paediatrics department provides comprehensive care for infants, children and adolescents. Services include newborn care, immunisation, growth monitoring and treatment of childhood illnesses such as malaria, fever and pneumonia.

Are your services affordable?
Yes. UUMC is committed to providing affordable, quality healthcare to everyone, especially the less privileged. Our fees are reasonable and transparent. We also work with HMO providers to reduce out-of-pocket costs for our patients.
Do you accept health insurance?
Yes. We work with several HMO and health insurance providers. Please bring your HMO card and valid ID when visiting. Contact our Cashier/Billing desk or call us on +234 911 659 1783 to verify if your provider is accepted.

Admission & In-Patient Care

How does hospital admission work?
Admission is recommended by your doctor after assessment. Once admitted:
• You will be assigned a ward bed
• A nurse will be assigned to your care
• Your treatment plan will be explained
• Family members will be briefed on visiting hours and care updates.
What should I bring when being admitted?
When being admitted, please bring:
• Valid ID and patient card
• HMO / insurance card (if applicable)
• Current medications
• Personal toiletries
• Change of clothing
• Emergency contact details of a family member
What are the visiting hours for in-patients?
Visiting hours are:
Morning: 9:00am – 11:00am
Evening: 4:00pm – 6:00pm
Please limit visitors to 2 at a time to ensure patient rest and recovery. Special arrangements can be made for critical cases.
